Government Official Confirms Ministry of Defence Looking at Potential Threat from Chinese Cars, with Personnel Instructed to Refrain from Secret Talk in Cars.

A defense official has stated that the Ministry of Defence is actively investigating the possible security risks posed by Chinese-made cars, while personnel have been told to refrain from talking about classified information in all cars.

Security Advice for Defence Staff

During a recent appearance on a radio station, Luke Pollard addressed reports that Ministry of Defence officials have been told not to discuss classified material while riding in China-made cars.

The minister said that the MoD is “examining” Chinese vehicles within its vehicle pools, however noted that security is a issue in all contemporary vehicles.

Our department has a collection of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and Chinese ones account for a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re driving a Chinese car or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their car, not to have conversations at a classified classification in any vehicle, due to the increasing risks of surveillance that exist in every single vehicle, to restrict those secret conversations in protected areas. That’s a prudent and reasonable thing for anyone worried about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be wise for the MoD to stop using every cars from China, the minister replied: ‘That’s precisely what we are looking into at the moment.”

Wider Defence Background

The announcement follows reports from Norway and Denmark have alerted the UK to the presence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese buses, which could allow the Chinese government to switch off public transport and bring disruption to public transit.

Additionally, a Russian intelligence vessel was reportedly directing lasers at Royal Air Force pilots, described as a “extremely risky” action by defence officials.

The broader security situation underscores the importance of strong protocols and caution in every aspects of official activities, from transport use to discussions practices.
